MA Geographical Information Systems

I have gained a through understanding of GIS and its capabilities, including its value in handling environmental & demographic data, spatial analysis, Gravity modelling and the application of 'intelligent' GIS. Software used includes ArcView, MapInfo & Arc/Info, embracing the ArcGrid & ArcTin Modules and the development of AML programs. I undertook my dissertation on behalf of WWF Scotland, investigating the impact of the proposed Cairn Gorm Funicular Railway.

BSc (Hons) Geography with Economics

Studying for this degree, I developed good geographic & economic knowledge. Courses selected encompassed tourism & recreation, the European Community, urban & economic geography, international & regional economic theory and GIS, using PC Arc/Info and Thinkspaces Inc.'s Map II. For my dissertation, I investigated the effects of different transportation era's on the growth of Birmingham.
